He fainted — I kid you not. A case of “ shock of the bolt cutters”.
He managed to stay on his feet until the Midwife performed an episiotomy, then went down like a stone. As the Midwife was attempting to deliver our son, she also kept one foot on my husband’s chest to keep him from getting up from the floor.
One of the Health and Safety policies of the hospital stated that all “potential” head injuries must be examined and assessed “on site” prior to discharge. c
This was especially embarrassing for me as I was a Midwife in the same Maternity Unit. I never lived it down.
